Acidente fatal, Bulgária

É com imensa tristeza que recebemos notícias desta natureza.
Doi-nos muito mais a nós, andando lá por baixo pensa-se inevitavelmente nisto.

Já é altura de vermos implantado um sistema nacional de espeleossocorro, não podemos contar sempre com os amigos ou com os Bombeiros (sem qualquer demérito, mas com a consciência de que raramente nos poderão valer...).

In July, 8 2005 at 7 h p.m during penetration in Kambankite Cave, Mugla vill. Smolyan district, Rhodope Mt., South Bulgaria the caver Ventzislav Stoyanov ( 31 years old) from SC"Prista"-Russe fall down from 18 meters.

The cave is located at 1625 m. a.s.l. the length of the main gallery is 456 m with depth - 158 m. The entrance is in a karst funnel with a diameter of 15 m and height ca. 8 m, from which a gallery starts. There are five shafts in this pothole.
The entrance vertical is 10 m, the second is 10 m, the third is 22 m, the fourth is 18 m and the fifth is 25 m deep. Narrow horizontal galleries interconnect the verticals. The accident happened in the fourth pit where the caver fall because probably he don't belay himself to the life line rope .
The caver was alive three hours and died before the rescue team came to the place. 13 members of Bulgarian cave rescue team start the operation some hours later. The first steps were to enlarge 3.5 m of the very narrow passage before the fourth pit so to make possible the transportation of the stretcher. These were done using the generator, cable end perforating machines. After few hours the passage were enough large so the stretcher were lift under the 3 pit and is now is waiting for the enlarging of the squeeze in front the next pit. The cave rescue continued.
