The deepest depths of Buda

"THE entrance of the cave opens at the crossroads of Pusztaszeri út and Zöldmáli út in an area where you'd much more expect to see a high class restaurant beyond the gates than a hall leading to a cave. In fact, entrances to caves are elements more intrinsic to the Buda Hills than any restaurant ever could be: the caves that make a emmenthaler cheese out of the hills are around 15-20 million years old. "In this area there are more than a hundred caves," said András Hegedûs, a 31-year old caver who is one of the guides at Szemlôhegyi-barlang, or the cave of Szemlô-hegy.
