Cave girl mystery revealed

A SHIP'S figurehead found almost 50 years ago in a tidal cave off the Queensland coast may be from one of our most famous wrecks.Fisherman Jim Byriel, 64, discovered the wooden image when he was 18 on Great Keppel Island off Rockhampton.
The Bowen grandfather has learned the wooden lady may have come from the wreck of the Jenny Lind and been in the cave for more than a century.
Ced Janson of the Gladstone Maritime History Society said: "It looks like it is from a barque called the Jenny Lind that sank on Kenns Reef in the Coral Sea on September 21, 1850." (...)
